Blackbird

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Black bird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
all your life
you were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise,
You were only waiting for this moment to arise,
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
The King’s Singers – Blackbird

I was listening to the song the other day. Having had my lunch, I was rambling along a path on campus. I didn’t know how I ended up in the Copley Music Center. The music center is essentially a concert hall, rather than an amenities center. In my six months’ of stay here, I never found a music room whereI could practice singing. The corridor was long and empty. Doors were shut, but I could hear the instrumentalists talking about their performance.

Near the window there was a sofa. I settled myself and closed my eyes to enjoy the music. I was listening to King’s Singers’ version, instead of the original Beatles’. King’s Singers have always been good at conveying the subtle emotions within the melodies. To me, they were telling a story of a fledging bird, as well as a young man. The process of growing up is painful, but you can only learn to be live your own life and fully realize your potential by undergoing through difficulties. However, it is the hardships, confusion, and disappointment that add flavor to life.

Do not let fear and anger conquer you. True happiness lies within yourself. Those who are unhappy feel so because they are always expecting happiness from others, whatever form it takes. But happiness is like a flower. Only by growing it yourself can you feel its vigor and be motivated forever.
